## “The more contact we have with nature, the better.”
Urban wildlife has been pushed to the outskirts of the city or trapped in parks, surrounded by deadly vehicles and noisy humans. Erik Melander investigated how to connect these isolated hiding places for Eindhoven’s fauna, to expand the gene pool and support urban nature. With tracking tunnels he tested the use of the existing green corridors, and found that they are mostly used by cats, rats and slugs. To encourage native wildlife mobility and boost awareness, he explored new and more visible connections. The most spectacular outcome is the Aqua Bridge, a transparent ecoduct that connects the river Dommel to the Eindhovensch Kanaal. As fish swim over your head in search of new mates, they add value to the city.
