Digital Ethology

Corinne Van Grevenbroek

Much animal interaction is non-verbal − feathers are ruffled and jowls are inflated. Such clear visuals indicate a given state of mind. This is the realm of ethology, the science of animal behaviour. Inspired by this unspoken interaction, Corinne van Grevenbroek envisages a future where humans reveal emotions or character traits in virtual reality, with demonstrative digital outfits. Adopt a prickly green getup to reflect the need for privacy or exude confidence in bright colours and with shoulders arched. Words are bypassed in favour of easy-to-interpret looks.
