Scaling Sustainability

Christian Hammer Juhl

Most of us want to do our bit for the environment. We read about water use and waste production guidelines, but they remain numbers. It’s hard to relate them to daily habits. ‘Scaling Sustainability’ by Christian Hammer Juhl looks at how ecological goals can be implemented into design. EU recommendations are made visible in everyday objects around us. The trash can and water meter show how we’re doing in relation to our weekly and daily maximum, so we can keep track at a glance. The plate is divided into sections with less space for meat than greens, for more eco-friendly eating. In visualising the scale of what’s required, we can change the way we choose to live and behave.
