The Best Descriptor is Fuzziness

Camila Kennedy

“The fog deposits people in the fuzzy world of quantum gravity”

What: A new take on representing quantum gravity, breaking away from the traditional diagrams that leave most of us clueless. Why: The uninspiring illustrations in physics books have not changed much in thirty years, even though the science behind it has greatly advanced. Frustrated with the absence of critical design in physics, Camila Kennedy searched for new ways to explain a complex theory to a broad public. How: Quantum gravity is impossible to see with your eyes, its particles trillions of times smaller than photons. Instead of trying to grasp that in misleading diagrams, Camila started storytelling – in comprehensible words. With a booming narration in a room filled with fog, listeners enter a different world, where fuzziness is the best descriptor.
